Thursday, 19 January 2012 11:14
The Commonwealth Specialist Training Program provides funding for specialist registrar training positions. Preference is given to new positions in the private sector and/ or in regional and rural areas.
The Australian Government has informed the RANZCR that the application round for new positions commencing in 2013 academic year will be conducted in early 2012 (February-March). If you are interested in applying, please check the Department of Health and Ageing website for information.
At this stage it is important to:
• Talk to those who may be directly involved – at hospital, network, State, or corporate level (where relevant). Those who would be expected to provide clinical supervision should be involved at an early stage. Those at network or State training program level should be consulted about any proposed expansion of registrar numbers.
• If your facility does not hold current RANZCR accreditation for registrar training, please contact Wendy Rahtz at the College on 02 9268 9740 or wendy.rahtz@ranzcr.edu.au about the requirements and how to apply.
• If your facility is accredited for training, you may need to apply for an increase in accredited positions. Please check with the College.
